Teaching was my first love. Helping struggling students is my second love. I began my working career as a kindergarten teacher. I enjoyed all of the students and their families and seeing the light bulb go on when the connection was made to letters, sounds, words, etc. That same idea applied to math - it is fun for me to see the delight on a child's face when they "get it". I left teaching and went into the legal field when my own children were older.
I spent my second career in the legal industry and retired in 2011. I became a tutor with LAUSD and did this for three years enjoying each second I spent with the children. My best and most favorite accomplishment is one child who was in the 10th grade but was reading at 2nd grade level. Within 40 hours of tutoring, his reading improved to 9th grade. His family and I were and are very proud of him.
