Hello,
My name is Roy and I've been a musician/music teacher for over 30 years. I started taking piano when I was in the sixth grade, which initially taught me how to read music. I then bought myself a guitar and began teaching myself to play. Guitar is my principle instrument, though I play bass, drums and apply the knowledge acquired taking piano lessons in my approach. My first two years of college I studied classical music, musicianship, ear training and theory. I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology. My next step was to learn about music from a different approach leading me to Dick Grove's Jazz Workshop where I studied jazz theory, sight reading and improvisation. So, I've studied classical to jazz and have played just about everything in between. My card reads, MUSIC/GUITAR LESSONS, all ages, all styles. Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country, Folk, Finger picking, Technique, Musicianship, Ear training, Theory and important tips when playing with others.
I have been performing live in every arena from clubs, private parties, corporate functions, Disney, (both in California and Florida), to concerts, with such artists as The Turtles, The Grassroots, and a myriad of name acts too many to mention. I love performing, but teaching has always been a passion of mine as well. I believe I have an aptitude in teaching because of my personality, patience, knowledge, and experience.
So, in short, I hope this note finds itself in the hands of someone who truly wants to learn music foundations and aesthetics, but most importantly the joy that comes from making music.
Sincerely,
Roy
