Hi!
I have a lot of fun with math and science and want you to also!
I am a graduate with a B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Math from Sonoma State University. Currently, I am tutoring as a way of support as I pursue a MS in Bioinformatics. For the last 6 years, I tutored in part- to full-time in physics, math, chemistry and Latin part-time, helping Jr High students, High School and college students. My tutees' ages have ranged from elementary to retirees with each person having a different way of learning. I like to work lots of examples similar to the problem at hand to help guide the student in productive studying and feel confident about the subject. As much as possible, I try and relate to the student at whatever level of understanding they are at. We all learn differently, I would like to provide a custom learning experience. Using this method, I have helped all of my students excel with their homework, tests and entrance exams.
I also have experience developing a customized curriculum for students who want to study ahead in preparation for that next math or science class they are taking.
NOTE: If you are interested in being instructed over the summer, please contact me and we can set up a plan to prepare you (or your child) for that fall class.
My teaching experience includes: president of my physics club during my undergraduate education, helping to organize free tutoring to college students, organizer in MESA and MECHA events on campus. I also frequently organized club outreach trips to local middle schools and fairs where we gave demonstrations and helped students with their projects. As a astronomy docent, I assisted college students during observations and participated in astronomy research field trips.
My goal after I receive my masters is to work in a professional environment and teach at some point after I have earned my "stripes." Although I enjoy applying math and science in the "real world," it is also very important to me being able to work with students one-on-one.
