Hi!
I have a lot of fun with math and science and want you to also!
I am a graduate with a B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Math from Sonoma State University. Currently, I am pursuing a master's degree in Biophysics. For the last 6 years, I tutored in physics, math, chemistry and Latin part-time, helping Jr High students, High School and college students. My tutees' ages have ranged from elementary to retirees with each person having a different way of learning. I like to work lots of examples similar to the problem at hand to help guide the student in productive studying and feel confident about the subject. From my experience, this helps to ensure that the tutee has a firm understanding of a subject, excels in it, but also, that they enjoy studying the subject. Using this method, I have helped all of my students excel with their homework, tests and entrance exams.
Having worked hard for my good grades, it means a lot to me personally to see students (young and old) excel in math and science.
My teaching experience includes: president of my physics club during my undergraduate education, helping to organize free tutoring to college students, organizer in MESA and MECHA events on campus. I also frequently organized club outreach trips to local middle schools and fairs where we gave demonstrations and helped students with their projects. As a astronomy docent, I assisted college students during observations and participated in astronomy research field trips.
My goal after I receive my masters is to work in a professional environment and teach at some point after I have earned my "stripes." Although I enjoy applying math and science in the "real world," it is also very important to me being able to work with students one-on-one.
