I was a teacher for 34 years, 23 years in the Petaluma School district, Petaluma, California, 3 years in Guinea, West Africa, and one year in Mexico City. I was the, Assistant Head for the Middle School/Academic Dean at the American School Foundation in Mexico City. I taught Language Arts/Social Studies Core at Martin Luther King Middle School, Berkeley, CA. Finally, I ended my career in San Francisco Unified School District as a Reading Specialist and a Special Education teacher.
Over the course of my educational experience, I have received two Master’s degrees, one in Reading and Language, and one in Supervision and Leadership. I also have my Principal Certification with the State of New Jersey.
Education is constantly changing and I believe I have grown with it. I am a learner, reading current literature in the field, giving many workshops, nationally and internationally, written articles on a variety of subjects, listened to others, and reflected on making what I do better. I try to envision a thorough way to get at understanding for all learners.
