I'm a senior at Caltech, where I study mathematics. My interests range from the sciences to humanities, focusing especially on math, physics, philosophy, and art history. I am currently focusing on research, and planning to attend a graduate program for a PhD in art history.
I've worked at test prep and tutoring centers in LA and elsewhere, from middle school to college and graduate level. I'm a tutor at Caltech, where I was also the lead teaching assistant for a summer math program. In private tutoring, I have worked with students from many high schools, colleges and universities in the area (including PCC, ELAC, Mt. SAC, Polytechnic School, La Canada High School, Loyola High School, and others) for six years now, on a wide range of subjects, as well as test prep.
I've designed curricula for 10-week and 5-week programs to prepare for the tests - feel free to ask me about them! I have been preparing students for the math portion of the ACT and SAT tests for many years now. I have worked at test prep centers in the LA area, taught group courses, and worked with individual students.
I have been preparing students for the ACT Science test for many years now. I have worked at test prep centers in the LA area, taught group courses, and worked with individual students.
In addition, I have designed a complete curriculum for a 5-week, three hour per week course to prepare students for the ACT Science test, which I have implemented both in group and individual settings. Feel free to ask me for more details about it!
I taught myself calculus during my sophomore year of high school. During junior year, I took a multivariable calculus class through Stanford University. When my friends took AP Calculus my senior year, I organized a weekly tutoring session to help them review and prepare for the AP test (I scored a 5 on the BC test). At Caltech, I took more advanced courses in single variable and multivariable calculus, as well as real analysis, the rigorous foundation behind the subject. I have tutored students taking these courses at Caltech and PCC for three years now.
I have taken several courses on differential equations. While in high school, I completed Stanford University's differential equations course. I also took a more advanced, analytical version at Caltech. I have used differential equations in my work, and published a research paper on the solution of certain differential equations in theoretical physics.
I first took French my sophomore year in high school. I advanced quickly and skipped a year of French to advance to French 3 my junior year, and AP French my senior year (I scored a 5 on the AP test).
At Caltech, I have taken courses on French film and literature, and I continue to immerse myself in French culture (especially through film and philosophy).
I took geometry as a freshman in high school. However, the concepts learned in geometry are fundamental to advanced work in math, especially in trigonometry, calculus, and college and graduate-level geometry (algebraic, differential, etc.). As a math major at Caltech, I have used geometry on a daily basis, including in coursework and research. I have also tutored students in geometry for over seven years.
I first learned linear algebra on my own during the summer after my sophomore year in high school. During my junior year of high school, I enrolled in a linear algebra course at Stanford University. At Caltech, I took another, more advanced, course in linear algebra. As a math major, I use it constantly and am very familiar with the subject. I have also tutored students at Caltech and PCC in linear algebra for three years now.
In high school, I took both physics and AP Physics courses (and scored 5 on both the AP Physics B and C tests), and I learned classical mechanics and quantum mechanics on my own. At Caltech, I have taken courses on classical mechanics, electrodynamics, waves, quantum mechanics, statistical and thermal physics, mathematical physics, and general relativity. My research focused on mathematical and theoretical physics, and I am very familiar with the subject. I have been tutoring Caltech and high school students in physics for four years.
I have been preparing students for the math portion of the SAT and ACT tests, as well as the SAT subject test in math, for many years now. I have worked at test prep centers in the LA area, taught group courses, and worked with individual students. I've designed curricula for 10-week and 5-week programs to prepare for the tests - feel free to ask me about them!

Awesome tutor — I was taking Calculus 2 at my college and I had to do some extra credit that was just out of this world. The extra credit was to prove some formulas that are used in differential equations class. So I contacted Chris and he explained the hardest problems in a way that I just get it now. He goes at the student's pace and doesn't try to rush you with anything. Very easygoing tutor, he is just awesom ...
