I specialize in tutoring all levels of math (AP included), science, SAT and GRE prep, and some college level classes. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is my ability to communicate with my students, pin-point areas that need improvement, and my overall ability to observe and perceive where the disconnect between the material and my student's understanding of it exists. I have over 7 years of tutoring experience. I have tutored for tutoring companies and as a freelance tutor for grades 6th to 12th, for undergraduates, and for graduate students pursuing PhD's. From time to time, I also do volunteer tutoring for kids from underprivileged backgrounds. In short, I love to tutor. In addition to tutoring, I am currently working as a mechanical engineer for the R&D department of semiconductors company. I graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology about two years ago.
When I tutor, my personal teaching philosophy is to make sure that my students learn by intuition and logic rather than memorization. My goal is to help my students succeed in their future educational career (not just one single class). Once an individual gets to college, he or she will have to work on developing their critical thinking skills more than anything else. After college, many employers and prestigious companies place a huge importance on critical thinking skills in their potential candidates. These skills are a necessary prerequisites to teach new hires how to use sophisticated techniques, methods, and technologies. By helping my students to develop these "thinking" skills, skills which are sometimes neglected in conventional high school education (and sometimes even college education), I help them to get a head start over the competition. Moreover, my tutoring program is designed to specifically target your needs. It is a not a cookie-cutter, "one-size fits all" program that is often advocated by large tutoring enterprises.
I guarantee improved performance within the first week of tutoring!
I am very flexible with my time and I am willing to come to your home if needed. Contact me so we can arrange tutoring sessions.
