CBEST
I'm experienced in tutoring adult students for the CBEST, and am familiar with the 3 common types of CBEST math questions. I'm also able to transfer my vast experience in SAT math tutoring to CBEST math prep.
Chinese
I was born in China and grew up there until college graduation. It is my mother tongue and I possess excellent writing skills in Chinese too. my wife is from Beijing so I still speak Mandarin on a daily basis.
Though I'm a math and science guy in general, I have a talent for language too, as I picked up conversational English quickly after coming to US for grad school. I was able to make many American friends and speak English fluently without accent. While in grad school, I tutored one of my office mates to speak Mandarin since he had a Chinese girlfriend, and was able to get him up to speed in daily conversations.
Since I'm originally from China, rest assured that the Chinese you learn from me is authentic, not merely second-hand Chinese taught in America. You will also get to know Chinese culture, customs and latest trends, as I still visit China often and stay in touch with the development there.
Differential Equations
Differential Equations was a basic course I took in my sophomore year of college, and I got an excellent score on it. It is a required course for all physics students and used in daily physics calculations. I have a BS and PhD in Physics.
Discrete Math
I have a BS and PhD in Physics. I have high scores in many discrete math courses, like probability, combinatorics, graph theory. Discrete math is used in many physics applications, especially statistical physics.
ISEE
I'm very experienced in math test prep, and have tutored many students on ISEE math section.
Linear Algebra
I have a PhD of Physics from Boston University, and BS of Physics from University of Science and Technology of China. Linear Algebra was a basic course I took in my sophomore year of college, and I got an excellent score on it. It is a required course for all physics students and used in many physics applications.
For current school year, I've tutored students from PCC (Math 10), Occidental College (Math 214) and CalStateLA (Math 457) on linear algebra, helping one improving from D to B, and two from B to A. And Math 10 is considered to be the toughest math class at PCC.
Physics
Testimonial from students I recently tutored:
"My tutoring sessions with Dr. Wei were just what I needed to understand the complex world of physics. Dr. Wei Is extremely knowledgeable about physics and was able to explain the concepts in a way that I could better understand them. He thoroughly goes over the material and provides examples for each topic. He's professional and has also been very flexible with my schedule. Thanks so much! You're a life saver!"
R. D., senior at UCLA, 9/23/2012
"Dr. Wei is a very knowledgeable, patient, fun-loving and easygoing tutor. He really helped me understand the fundamental concepts of physics. With his help, I felt more confident and retook the SAT II Physics test. After working with Dr. Wei for one month, my SAT II Physics score has gone up to 770 from 640. Dr. Wei is awesome and I would recommend him to anyone seeking help in physics!"

SAT Math
For SAT math, I have recent REAL SAT test problems up to this year, which is NOT available in public domain. They are the real deal, and you can practice with my guidance and catch up with the latest test trend.
