I have an MA in math from State University of New York and an MS in computers from Case Institute of Technology. Besides 25 years of software experience, I have taught part-time in the math and computer science department at San Jose State University. I love to see my students understand the principles and apply them to solving problems and will try different ways to make these clear to them, depending on their ability and background.

I have taught intermediate algebra to college students for many quarters and understand the difficulties the students may have and how to help them.

I have taught and tutored algebra 2 for many quarters to college students and know how to make the concepts and skills clear and easy for the students to understand.

I have taken many graduate level classes in the area of Discrete Mathematics, including Probability (including Combinatorics and Permutations), Statistics, Analysis of Algorithms, Graph Theory, Network Analysis, Security Analysis, Digital Systems, and Number Theory. I have mastered the knowledge of Discrete Mathematics in these classes both the concepts and the ability to solve difficult problems. I have also taught and tutored many students in this area of Discrete Mathematics. I am able to understand their difficulties and find a way to help them grasp the concepts.

I have taught and tutored geometry in algebra and calculus classes for many quarters to college students and know how to make the concepts and skills clear and easy for the students to understand.

I have taken many Physics classes, including graduate level ones, during college and loved and excelled in them. I found the way to learn Physics is to understand the few crucial concepts really well, then the rest is simply applying them to different situations and, of course, having reasonably good Math foundations is important and necessary. I have been helping students in High School and college level Physics with very good results.

I have taught pre-algebra to college students for many quarters and understand well how to help them to overcome their difficulties in this subject.

I have aced my SAT Math test as well as SAT Math subject test. I believe the way to improve on the SAT Math performance is to systematically work on and improve the underlying math and logic in working the problems. Over a period of time, this will improve both the performance on SAT Math as well as one's Math ability.

I have been helping a number of students in colleges to gain a much better understanding of the subject of statistics and the confidence in solving the problems and they have all attained superior performance in their coursework.

I am helping a number of 10th grade students in algebra and trigonometry (honors) at Paly and Gunn, and my approach is to help them with their basic understanding as well as the reasoning ability in solving problems. The aim is to increase their self confidence as well as their performance when they have to solve trigonometry problems.
