My mission is to help students reach their personal academic goals by providing high-quality personalized tutoring in the comfort and convenience of their own homes.
In the beginning, each student is given a free initial evaluation that helps to pinpoint what is needed to be successful. During the initial evaluation, if I feel it necessary, I will test the student. Often students are so anxious when they first start tutoring, that testing them might add to their anxieties. Testing is not always accurate. After I have seen the student talked with him and watched him work, I can diagnose the problem. Afterward, an individualized study program is designed which caters to each student's strengths and learning styles.
Each tutoring session is approximately one hour long. The length of the session may vary depending upon the student's needs.
Within 24 hours after each tutoring session, a progress report gets emailed to the parents/student to help them see that their investment is working. The report includes a rating in three different categories: Energy Level, Preparation Level, and Progress made during each session.

I have a Master's Degree in Education with an area of emphasis in Educational Technology. I have worked as a graphics and web designer using software including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Pagemaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Framemaker and other desktop publishing software. I am qualified to tutor phonics because I have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a Masters in Education degree, and have taught phonics previously when substitute teaching kindergarten and first grade. One method I use to teach phonics is by analogy. In analogy phonics I teach students unfamiliar words by analogy to known words (e.g., recognizing that the rime segment of an unfamiliar word is identical to that of a familiar word, and then blending the known rime with the new word onset, such as reading brick by recognizing that -ick is contained in the known word kick, or reading stump by analogy to jump). Another method I use is to teach students explicitly to convert letters into sounds (phonemes) and then blend the sounds to form recognizable words.
