ADD/ADHD

I am qualified to tutor several subjects to children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I have a Master's of Science in Educational Psychology-MFT Counseling emphasis. This training enables me to address the psychological and academic needs with these particular behavior disorders. I implement specific redirective, concentrative techniques that assist and supportive individuals who are challenged with these particular disorders.

Career Development

I am currently an adjunct faculty member teaching Psychology and Counseling 1. Counseling 1 is a course designed to assist and support individuals to address vocational pursuits. This course provides specific academic strategies to identify vocational, professional and educational pursuits. It is includes the vocational and occupational testing to determine which educational and academic pursuits would be most appropriate for students. Additionally, the tutoring I provide enables students to explore and apply psychological, social, physical principles and life management skills that impact life-long learning, well-being and success.

College Counseling

Elementary (K-6th)

I have experience teaching and tutoring all levels in K-6th. I have experience in lesson plan design. My specific experience is in curriculum development for K-6th and after-school programming. I have experience designing supplemental tutorial programs for implementation through the California School-Age-Consortium (CALSAC). Program design includes the areas of Math, Vocabulary, English and Science.

English

In addition to being a published writer; I have tutored individuals in English and other subjects since college. I am an experience teacher, college professor and endorsed trainer. In addition, I am educated as a psychologist which gives me an added dimension to my teaching approach. I look forward to sharing my skills with those who endeavor to increase and enhance their skills.

Piano

I have a BA in Liberal Studies with a Music option. This option has an emphasis in piano. For the past 20 years I have taught fundamentals of elementary piano to various aged students from 6-47. I am certified in Music Theory and enjoy teaching at any level. In addition, I sit in with a Jazz Ensemble. I have a passion for teaching and music.

Public Speaking

I have 20 years in public speaking. My resume includes experience in a variety of settings: as an endorsed trainer, a workshop presenter for various conferences, an adjunct professor, a seminar speaker, a planning commissioner, and as a facilitator for community advocacy groups. My preparation for tutoring in this area is from a variety of sources. All of the above enables me to tutor individuals and encourage them to explore the interpersonal communication elements. These elements include listening, perception, language usage, non-verbal communication and conflict management. I am able to introduce individuals to new skills that will allow them to overcome barriers and enhance their ability to sufficiently conduct their public speaking opportunities.
