I have a current California multiple subject teaching credential. I have taught in California for 22 years in the Palmdale School District, and 3 additional years as a substitute teacher and a tutor. I have attended school district offered inservices on teaching students with special needs. I have been responsible for teaching all subjects to students with ADHD and ADD. I have had success with these students.
Some of the techniques I have used with success include providing structured, predictable procedures, give positive feedback often, focus on the student's strengths, redirect student's nonproductive behaviors, provide one-on-one instruction, break assignments down into smaller, achievable tasks, adjust the number of problems/activities to be completed, use different modalities for learning.
I have taken the CBEST test and passed the first time I took it. I have been actively involved in education for decades in the Antelope valley. Consequently, I have kept abreast of current teaching pedegogies and the skills needed to pass the CBEST test. I am already certified in STUDY SKILLS through WyzAnt. I feel that knowledge and experience of teaching study skills methods and my extensive experience with current teaching practices and pedagogy could qualify me as certified in teaching CBEST test preparation.
I have a multiple subject clear California teaching credential. I have taught all subjects to students grades K through sixth. I have taught language arts, which includes reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I have also taught math, including number sense(place value, rounding, etc.), adding, subtracting, multiplying, and division. I have taught problem solving(word problems), geometry, measurement, and algebra.
Additionally, I have taught science, including geology, botany, marine biology, ecology, the periodic table of elements(chemistry), and the scientific process. While teaching social studies I have covered subjects such as geography and maps, history (Antelope valley, world, ancient, U.S.), and cultural awareness.
I have been trained to teach English as a second language. I have a Clear CLAD (Crosscutural, Language and Academic Development) Certificate. I took courses and a test to obtain this certificate. I have taught second language learners for 15 years and have developed effective, yet fun, techniques, to promote language learning for all students.
Additionally, I have TESOL/TEFL/ESL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages/Teaching English as a Foreign Language/Teaching English as a Second Language)certification. I achieved this by attending and passing an Oxford Seminar course. This course included 60 hours of training which included: lesson planning, classroom management techniques, skills development(grammar, pronunciation, listening, speaking, reading, and writing), teaching strategies, teaching multi-level classes, and a teaching practicum.
I have a current California Teaching Credential. I have taught in California puplic schools for 22 years. I have taught all grades k-8. I taught 3rd grade for six years. During those six years I became especially experienced in teaching phonics. I became of aware of difficulties students tend to have with English phonics and utilized successful strategies to help them overcome difficulties and excel in phonics.
Besides the training I received as a credential student, I have attended many inservices as a teacher over the decades and have kept abreast of new techniques and procedures to help students learn phonics.
I have taken and taught many prealgebra courses. I have taken and passed with 100% the Wyzant prealgebra test for certification in this subject. I know how to start with determining where students are "stuck" and get them through this, and/or continue on with the subject from the point they are at and help them excel at comprehending prealgebra vital concepts.
I have a current Clear Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential. I have taught in public education for more than 20 years. My school stressed the importance of study skills and AVID training, which specifically addresses study skills, was utilized there. As a classroom teacher I have always addressed this very essential component to student success.
