Hello Students, Parents, and Adult Learners:
I have been a professional teacher in California for nine years in which I have taught Reading and Language Arts, and Social Studies. I use Bloom's taxonomy to begin enabling objectives to reach a terminal objective for the course or outcome of the tutor sessions. Your success is my promise to you.
I currently tutor for Basic Educational Services Team, which offers tutoring to less fortunate students. I meet the students and an adult in the home at the specified time for two hours. The sessions are one-on-one where I divide the lessons into mini-lessons to keep my young student interested.
Besides Bloom's Taxonomy and learning objectives, I employ learning psychology theory. First, is the Behavioral Theory where I believe learning is a result of the environment and operant conditioning. In other words, I work to reward or reinforce proper learning by signaling when a response is correct or a condition has been followed. Therefore, I use very specific movements and instruction. Secondly, is the use of cognitive theory and the idea that new information is most easily acquired when people can associate it with things they have already learned. Thus, I work to build prior knowledge and work to stimulate or exercise the brain. In addition, I am a firm believer in situated cognition; learning taking place in the context by active participation in a community or practice.
Holding your head high and not becoming dissuaded from your goal is critically important to success. No one can hold you back; all the time. You and you only have to be resilient and be able to see setbacks as opportunities to improve. As Benjamin Franklin said, "I did not fail the test; I just found 100 ways to do it wrong.”
A failed attempt is really a whisper telling you to try again.
Sincerely,
Robert E.
