I earned teaching credentials from both New York and California. I began teaching English-language skills as a middle-school teacher, then taught high-school students for fifteen years. For the past nineteen years, I have taught English courses at four different colleges, most recently to sailors from the Defense Language Institute for Brandman (Chapman) University. My experience with teaching the military includes three years teaching writing and basic skills aboard U. S. Navy combat ships while at sea. Until April of last year, I spent twelve years teaching English to students at Heald College to prepare them for success in their careers. One of the students that I tutored eventually became the head of the Israeli Air Force and is now president of an airline.
At Heald College I was Teacher of the Year, and while teaching aboard navy ships, I was twice awarded commendations. I have visited many parts of the Far East and the Middle East. In addition to teaching, I have a fruit-tree pruning business. In my spare time I do a great deal of dancing and study the Japanese language.
