I have been a freelance writer for the OC WEEKLY for the past 17 years, where I am currently their lead art critic. Over the course of that decade plus, I've written about social issues, book reviews, theatre criticism, lifestyle and political pieces. Previous to the Weekly, I wrote for other magazines, maintained an art blog and even wrote an on-line soap opera.
In addition to writing professionally, I've been Artistic Director for two storefront theater companies devoted to ground-breaking and premiere work, Rude Guerrilla Theater Company and Monkey Wrench Collective, and recently finished time as Programming Director for STAGEStheatre in Fullerton.
During the past two decades, I've communicated with dozens of playwrights and/or their agents and have solid working relationships and friendships with several international British, Canadian and American writers. I've directed over 65 plays, lectured on British theater overseas in Malta and London, taught acting to young people, enjoy getting variant groups interested in theater, and I'm completely at home discussing the background and themes of any play or musical, modern or classic.
I wrote all press releases for each of the more than 140 plays that I produced at the two theaters I ran and dramaturged about a quarter of those. My theater photography has also been featured in the LA Times, OC Weekly and OC Register.
I’m also adept with a digital camera and Final Cut video editing equipment and have shot and edited several trailers for various productions. My first feature film is currently being submitted to festivals.
