Spanish/English/German Tutor Who Loves to Teach

I am a California credentialed teacher with a double major in Spanish and German, as well as certification in English. My tutoring approach is based on over 30 years experience teaching grades 7-12 in private and public schools. I have worked with many types of students, including participants in the GATE program, regular education students, English language learners, and high-functioning special needs students. I bring to my clients a large repertoire of proven techniques to enrich the learning experience, including the use of technology and multiple intelligence activities.

I am a member of the Foreign Language Association of Orange County, and the California Language Teachers Association. For the past couple of years, I have served on the District Curriculum committee.

In addition to the above activities, I have tutored Home Hospital students, moderated clubs, and helped lead language camps. I come from a large family that has been involved in sports, music, dance, Scouts, and church activities, so I can relate to students with varied interests.

Vocabulary

I can help students broaden their vocabulary through use of word families, etymologies, context clues, and other methods.

I have taught not only American literature, but have integrated literature into the study of Spanish and German as well.

I have much experience helping students correct their own work.

ESL/ESOL

I have taught ESL to adults. I also have taught other languages to EL learners for over 25 years. I have had extensive training in language acquisition. I am a California credentialed teacher with a double major in Spanish and German, as well as certification in English.

Public Speaking

I have worked with students on appropriate public speaking techniques, such as organization, volume, expression, proper use of visual aids, eye contact, etc. I have also advised students on tailoring a speech to an audience, and presenting different types of speeches, such as explaining a process, comparison and contrast, sharing an anecdote, as well as other commonly assigned presentations.

ADD/ADHD

I have taught high functioning ADD students for over 25 years, and I am keenly aware of their needs. I am a California credentialed teacher.
