Hello Prospective Student and/or Prospective Parent of Student!
Since 2008 I have been involved in a volunteer teaching work, including using primarily ASL since 2009. I enjoy tutoring/teaching a variety of subjects; in particular English, American Sign Language, Public Speaking, and reading. My approach is one of patience and focusing the tutoring session on the individual's specific needs. I believe each person learns differently and I am flexible with adjusting to match the student.
My range of training and experience has prepared me to work well with all backgrounds and education levels. This includes taking courses ASL 1-5, ASL/English Translation, and Sociology. I have been able to assist in teaching an ASL community class and have completed volunteer public speaking assignments in front of audiences of over 8,000 people. I currently work in Elementary, High School, and College settings. I am ESSE (Elementary Signed Skills Evaluation) certified.
I look forward to speaking with you and scheduling a meeting time. I am available Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and on a case by case bases on the weekends.
I have completed college level courses ASL 1-5 and ASL/English Translation. I volunteered in teaching a 4 month crash course in Sign Language at a community organization. I have attended many deaf events and have a network of Deaf friends/colleagues. Member of SCRID. I currently work as an ASL interpreter in Elementary, High School, and College levels.
