Having graduated from Mt. San Antonio College with two associate's degrees and currently enrolled at California Baptist University, I feel I posses the qualities and skills needed to help your child perform to the best of their ability. Having obtained an Associates degree in Math and Natural Sciences and the other in Behavioral and Social sciences I feel I am well rounded with a wide array of subject qualifications. I have completed all of the requirements necessary to graduate and the classes that I have had experience with that I feel are pertinent to my tutoring capabilities are, but not limited to: English, English Composition, English Writing, Reading, Vocabulary, Study techniques, math, Natural science, Life science, Chemistry, as well as anatomy and physiology, and psychology to name a few. Being that English is one of my strong suits, I feel that I would be able to provide you (the student) or your student (to the parents) a tutoring experience that will help them excel in a way that will allow them to reach their academic goals. Having been a product of tutoring myself, I know exactly what it takes to be an effective and efficient tutor. My tutoring style is much like my approach to any area I come across that requires teaching on my behalf; with patience, proper knowledge and a positive attitude. I feel like the best way to make a connection with a student in terms of helping them retain information in a way that they will understand and be able to turn into practical application is to let them know that you will do whatever it takes to help them reach their goal. I am gentle by nature and have quite a bit of patience. My strategy is such that if a particular method of teaching or tutoring style isn't working, I will come up with an alternative method that suits their learning style. I know how a student learns often can affect the way they retain information or process information, so knowing that in advance I think will set me as the tutor, and they as the student, up for success. The lesson plans will be targeted to help them improve in the areas where improvement is needed and brush up on areas that are already proficient to keep them that way. There is not just one general way of tutoring that is good for every student, and because every student is different, I believe it is crucial to the learning process that each student have their own learning objectives and methods tailored to meet their specific needs. I can do that for you!! I'm not one to give up on anybody. I want you/your child to succeed in school and in life, and education these days plays a big part in how well one can get by later in the future. Give me a chance to show you just how much you or your child can do with a dedicated tutor!

My personal characteristics can be classified as very down to earth, fun, spontaneous, silly, goal-oriented, self-motivated, but most of all determined. If your child is struggling in a subject and needs extra time and motivation to get his or her work done, or needs work in focusing to do well on tests, I'm your girl! I'm very goal driven and will do whatever it takes to help your child succeed and excel in school. I know from personal experience that school can sometimes be a very challenging thing for students, and it takes the right person who is not only willing to give of themselves and their time, but also of their interest in a student to help them realize the value of doing well in school. Tutoring shouldn't be black and white, there should always be an element of excitement to serve as incentive for the students to want to thrive and do well. Having fun respectively and appropriately can sometimes be the very thing that propels a student forward and incites motivation or the lack thereof can result in them holding back on their true potential. I'm enthusiastic about being able to tutor students and know that should you decide to entrust me with the learning capabilities of your child, I will get them where they need to be! Being able to provide assistance to those who need it is what really makes me happy! I take pride in what I do and know that I have the patience, the heart and the motivation to be the best tutor for your child. Thank you, best wishes, and God bless!

Grammar

As an English enthusiast, throughout the course of my academic career, I have taken many English classes with emphasis on writing, grammar, punctuation. Before I switched my major from Journalism to business to Nursing, I was an avid writer. I was enrolled in Honors and college preparatory English classes in High school and achieved high grades in my English classes in College. I feel I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I know grammar and am good at teaching it.

Physical Science

As a nursing major, I have taken many physical science classes and still retain most of the information I have learned from them. I have taken microbiology, earth science, anatomy, physiology, organic chemistry, all of which have helped to shape my knowledge of the sciences. I have to know science because of my major so I feel I would be able to be a benefit to a student or students in teaching this subject.

Proofreading

I feel I am qualified to tutor in the subject of proof reading because I have taken courses in college that have helped in my proofreading abilities. In addition to writing stories, In almost every class I have had throughout my academic career I have had to write essay after essay, and proofreading before submission was an absolute must. I feel I am well qualified if for no other reason than the experience that comes along with having written so many papers in high school and college.

SAT Reading

Because I am so adept at things pertaining to English, I feel I possess the skills needed to help a student with SAT reading. Having taken the SAT test myself in high school, I am well aware of the structure of the test, and how important the reading portion is. I am familiar with the subject am qualified in proofreading, which helps in answering selections. I myself had to study for the reading portion and was able to pass the section with a high score. I know reading very well, and have what it takes to help your student do well on the SAT reading portion.

SAT Writing

Writing is one of my favorite past times! I myself have taken the SAT and did very well in both the reading and the writing section. I am familiar with the structure of the test and how to go about writing to achieve a higher score. I have written numerous papers in high school and college to know how to properly write in a manner that will convey the elements of proper vocabulary, grammar sentence structure and basic writing skill. I know that writing is not only important to do well on the SAT, but in various classes in college as well. I am qualified in tutoring writing and feel I have the skills needed to tutor effectively for writing prep for the SAT. I love to write, so this section and subject comes very easy to me.

Vocabulary

I feel I am qualified to tutor in vocabulary because I've always loved vocabulary. I enjoy expanding my own vocabulary by frequenting the dictionary for clarification or expansion. I've always done well on vocab tests and enjoy the sense of intelligence that comes from having a broadened vocabulary repertoire.

Writing

College has definitely helped to give me a leg up with regard to writing. I have written well over 20 essays and have generally received nothing less than a B on any given paper (most of which were A's). I have been complimented by many professors on my writing style and capability. I pride myself in being a good writer and is something i enjoy doing in my spare time. I feel I would be a good tutor in this subject because I've had so much positive practical experience.
