I am a teacher by profession and have many years experience with students, learning and curriculum.
I have an Honors degree from the University of London, where the two choices in fields of study were Education and Social Biology.
Social Biology consisted of Anthropology: including study of genetics, evolution, anatomy, chemistry, sociology, and more, and I took every course available.
I am still most interested in the subject, and do attend lectures (last being held at UCSD).
I look forward to discussions and have had several with staff at the Museum Of Man in Balboa park. It is a fascinating and enlightening subject for all and I will be pleased to share my insights, education and experience with the topics and theories and research with you.
I have enjoyed and played chess since childhood as I have been raised by a British Chess Master.
He taught myself and my siblings and was in daily contact with the most impressive and famous Chess masters internationally, sharing his insights with us.
My father was honored, by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth The Second, at a formal event Buckingham Palace LONDON England. The family ability for chess has continued most notably with my nephew, who was winning against proficient adults at the age of 6 years.
I am not the most expert chess player nor au fait with every strategy, but I can certainly teach the basics, encourage and convey the spirit and meaning of the game to pupils.
I have been an Art lover and an Artist all my life, beginning drawing and sketching as a small child with much encouragement from my family and school, and I learned from some really inspiring teachers as I got older.
I have never really stopped for very long and believe there is no such thing as Not Being Able to Draw. It is a balance between motivation and feeling, observation skills and technique.
I have elevated the status of, and used drawing with children in London's schools for many years to achieve concentration and satisfaction as well as monitor their observation and emotional or intellectual progress.
I have some access to techniques for drawing, and have worked with all ages in workshops as well, where my primary role is to facilitate, encourage and delight in their work - with some sensitive guidance as needed.
I have been employed by schools professionally both as a classroom teacher and specifically to assist the work of teachers of children aged 5-14 and the children themselves with a wide range of reading / writing disorders or 'word blindness' under the umbrella term of 'dyslexia' for more than 20 years. I Have worked as a regular expert in this area attached to several Elementary schools in the London Borough of EALING in West LONDON UK where I was an integral member of the learning support team appointed for the role. I have tutored children individually and in small groups after school too, also for the purpose of encouragement, progress, and in particular uncovering and overwhelming the blocks they have to deal with.
I am a school teacher from the UK with more than 25 years professional experience helping children in school aged up to 11.

I am most inventive and creative in getting my results!
I'm most known as an expert for early years and also have worked with teens and adults, mostly as a tutor in literacy skills and speech or public speaking.

I have been an Art lover and Artist all my life, personally.
I now work part time as a photographer.
I majored in painting before leaving school and have never entirely quit. As a teacher appointed in London's schools for many years I have always drawn upon and encouraged Art techniques, which have assisted in the learning of countless pupils and promoted self expression and aesthetic development.
I have worked with all ages in workshops as well.

As a professional teacher specializing in the teaching of reading I have created and delivered phonics programs to children full and part time since 1983.
Programs have varied, and I enjoy seeing the results and responses. Those that work best need to be tailored to the child in question and I have a great track record in this area.
I have been a photographer 'on the side' along with teaching in schools since 1983, and full time since 2010. I have been teaching photography, in particular Portrait Photography, part time (3 or more days per week) since 2010.
It is a great passion I love to do and find people respond very well, perhaps as offer more than a dry explanation to common problems.
I have a feel for composition and skills in direction that I am able to share.
Since it is an Art form that others have varied opinions about photography is a vivid subject to teach which I enjoy greatly.
I am extremely capable with language, and speak English fluently and well.
I have mentored many public speakers, who have improved and become confident. I have hosted radio programs on both sides of the Atlantic, and won competitions for 'ad hoc' unplanned speeches too.
But it is not that, that makes me a good tutor...
It is caring, and having respect for each speaker, as well as a feel for language, grammar and vocabulary, emphasis, breath and the poetry of speech.
I have discovered that sharing my enthusiasm with others, brings great joy and exciting results.
I have taught and monitored various speaking and listening skills, and promoted spoken English to native and foreign speakers of all ages, since 1983 beginning with children and their parents in a cosmopolitan city, and moving on, to business people and toastmasters / members of the American public.
My methods are both organized and informal, as is required.
I look forward to speaking with you!
I am a teacher from England. I am qualified by the University of London, with an honors degree and have been teaching reading professionally to the youngest of children and non readers since 1983 in the city of London.
I have worked with many non English families. I am an expert familiar with multiple proven methods so I am able to utilize whatever method works for the individual. I have had many successes with older children who were failing in reading before tutoring and the benefit has lasted ever since.
Some children are more visual, some more aural and some more kinesthetic. Some do better with high energy and fun stimulation, others by more relaxed style, and taking the pressure off. Some do better with rules and phonics, or games, and others learn by sight such as the 'look and say' method and props.
Most do much better as soon as we start tutoring by my being able to connect with their own personality and follow their individual interests. As well I am able to support parents so that they are informed and so that their style will not impede progress.
Please contact me for more information or to make arrangements.
