When I was in middle school, I had a dream that I will be able to teach other people or at least help them understand a question and solve the problem. Coming to the United States of America three years ago, I have brought that dream over with me and have been working hard to achieve it. I got my GED in three months at Escondido Adult School and have gone to Palomar College. Now, my major is Psychology because I want to learn more about human mind and behavior and to find better ways to improve person's ability to learn. My goal is to become a university/college professor or an educational counselor.
I can speak and write fluently in both Vietnamese and English. Also, I am interested in learning more different languages and cultures; in fact, I am learning Spanish, Japanese and ASL currently. I had more than one year working as a Palomar College Gear Up tutor at Hidden Valley Middle school. During the time working in GEAR UP, I was a Math+Science tutor, but I also tutored English and Social Study for students after class. The maths level I tutored my students were Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. I had a good rapport with my colleagues, teachers, and students. I enjoy tutoring and helping students figure out the solution for their homework and show them to study for their exams. My big happiness is to see my students make progress and get better in school. After one year working for GEAR UP, I was awarded Tutor of the Year 2012-2013. This was such a big honor for me and encouraged me to keep following my dream.
