I graduated from Clemson University in 2009 with a 3.8 GPA in Secondary Education: History. Throughout my college career I volunteered as an elementary school tutor. I taught middle and high school history for three years in South Carolina. Currently I am a 5th grade teaching aide. I scored a 1400 (without the writing section) on the SAT, so I am also confident in my SAT/ACT tutoring abilities.
My favorite part of teaching is working one-on-one with students and making sure they grasp concepts and ideas. Individual attention is often the difference between failure and tremendous success. I love helping students discover their potential and gain self-confidence. I would love to help your child in that endeavor.
I am most comfortable working with K-12 students, but would be happy to work with adults learning to use basic technology.
I am a certified teacher and understand various learning modalities and how to teach to those. I am competent in basic math, science, history, reading, etc. I have three years of teaching experience and I am currently working as a 5th grade aide/tutor full-time.
I played varsity softball for three years in high school, and played JV and middle school softball before that. I played every summer; I was a starting pitcher on summer league teams and my school teams. I was an assistant/pitching coach for two years in South Carolina. Not only do I know general rules and techniques for softball, but I am well versed in pitching form. I know how to pitch a fastball, change-up, curve ball, drop ball, and rise ball.
I have taught for three years. I am experienced in training students to be organized and proactive students. I taught a Freshman Success course that focused on organization, using/creating study tools, and public speaking. Additionally, I tutored many students one-on-one that were able to apply study habits learned in tutoring sessions to their own work.
