Hi!

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Dustin, and I'm available to work with individuals of all ages to help him or her to reach his or her full potential. I'm experienced in tutoring, and have worked with children as young as first grade. I have also been hand-selected by a foreign language teacher at my high school when one of my peer's parents approached my teacher asking for recommendations on how their child could improve their understanding of the foreign language at issue. Through word of mouth, this foreign language tutoring opportunity turned into me being approached by yet another parent that heard of my patience, qualification, and results. I strive to reach a healthy balance of making learning approachable and fun, but never lose sight of the ultimate goal to improve one's skills.

I'm currently a third-year student at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and I am living in Folsom for the summer. I decided to make this profile to connect with students that are seeking thoughtful and thorough guidance and feedback regarding anything including but not limited to reading, writing, English, editing, proofreading, the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), etc.

As my headline highlights, I am presently the Editor-in-Chief of a nationally-ranked law journal. As such, I spend considerable time selecting articles based on the quality of scholarship, and working with leading practitioners and academics to improve their writing on both substantive and technical areas of potential improvement. I then read articles in upwards of 100 pages, going line-by-line to find sentences that may be improved upon. A strong command of the English language and grammar is essential in this role, and that is exactly what I will utilize on your behalf, should you choose to work with me to improve your writing.

I'm very excited to begin working with you and finding out how I can put my education and experience to work on your behalf. Have a wonderful day.

-Dustin

Elementary (K-6th)

After graduating from UC Davis, but before beginning law school, I decided to pursue substitute teaching until law school began. I took the appropriate tests, passed my background checks, and became a certified "Guest Teacher" in the San Juan Unified School District. Most of my assignments as a guest teacher were in leading elementary school-level classrooms. I have also tutored a 1st grader extensively on subjects ranging from English to math, and found it extremely rewarding and exciting to watch his confidence and ability grow after each session.

Macintosh

I have been using Apple brand computers since 2004, when I first began to use these computers to complete my college coursework. Since then, I have not only learned many ins and outs of the operating system, but I have served as a de facto Macintosh technical support person for both my family members and others.

Study Skills

After high school, I spent four years learning biochemistry, and I am now presently in law school. Mastering these different subjects has really forced me to learn how to absorb and retain as much knowledge as possible in both the "hard sciences" and the social sciences. For instance, to help improve my learning outcomes, I have utilized such strategies as scheduling your work for when you have the most energy during the day, working in a clear workspace free of distractions, incorporating study breaks, and implementing small rewards for achieving established study goals.
