I have been a student of French for approximately 15 years, having recently completed a Master's in French Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. During my time as a graduate student I taught 100-level undergraduate French courses. I have spent copious time abroad in France and elsewhere in Europe, so I can bring the practical, real-world cultural aspects to my language teaching abilities.

During my time abroad in France I had clients ranging from age 9-26 who I gave private ESL lessons to, and to this I can bring my knowledge of learning a second language, which gives me a special edge and insight into the learning process.

I hold a BA in French and Art History also from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, so I have an extensive knowledge of the humanities, as well as a personal interest in the arts which I try to bring to all my language lessons to really enrich the language-learning experience!

Beyond my academic training, I have lots of experience tutoring in elementary school settings in subjects like reading, social studies, math and English. I love teaching, and my students always find my lessons engaging and fun, so much so that I was consistently listed as one of the teaching assistants at UIUC who received a rating of "excellent" from their student evaluations.

I look forward to creating lasting tutoring relationships, and sharing my passions for French, literature, and the arts with you!

A très bientôt!

French

I hold an MA in French Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I obtained my BA in French from UIUC as well, and have studied abroad in Paris, as well as worked as the Assistant Director for the Illinois Program in Paris. I taught French for 2.5 years at the college level at UIUC. Specific courses I taught were French 101, 103, and 104. I have been studying French since I was 11 years old, and would love to share my passion and skill with others, whether it be for academic reasons, or just the joy of learning a new language!

Excellent Tutor: Knowledgeable and Flexible — I work for medium size company which has a substantial portion of its business in Europe. The leadership team is located in Paris. I engaged Sarah to learn basic French. Her lessons are well constructed. She has the student work through situations with very little English to expand their conversational/communication skills. Also she employs the right amount of grammar instruction (and exercises) ...
