“Sev has a passion for teaching and for sharing his native language. He has all of the qualities that make for a great language teacher and specialist. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with Sev, and having him share his love of French with new students.” Christopher W., publishing director at Living Language, Random House
Born in NYC, and raised in the Loire Valley, France, I am blessed with a French-American dual citizenship. I have lived in France and the U.S. respectively for nearly 20 years, and received college degrees from Angers (France), New York and Honolulu.
Over the years, I have coached hundreds of people in French. Having grown up around teachers, and with a lifelong educational experience, I have witnessed the varying practicality and effectiveness of countless learning methods.
To quickly improve one’s skills in a language, I believe nothing is more successful than immersing the student in real life scenarios that involve all the senses. But while immersion is a powerful approach especially for very young students, most people benefit from understanding the different aspects of a language; this means studying the grammar, doing exercises, reading, etc.
My students encompass the broadest spectrum of ages, cultural backgrounds, education levels and professions. I therefore take the necessary time to closely listen to their needs and motivations, and discuss with them possible ways to approach the learning experience. The process becomes a constantly refining act, which improves as a relationship builds between the teacher and the student.
Learning should be fun and live, as life itself!
