I am an experienced teacher and tutor in social studies/ history and English relocating to the Bay Area. I have a professional social studies teaching license in Colorado (grades 7- 12) and an Initial history teaching license in Massachusetts (grades 5- 12). I have a B.A. in history and secondary education from Merrimack College and an an M.A. in history from the University of Massachusetts. I have two years experience teaching middle school social studies in catholic schools in Boston. I have one year experience teaching middle school history in Oakland California.
I have worked as a substitute teacher in Greenfield and Holyoke, Massachusetts, tutored for the Boston Learning Center in the subjects of English, Social Studies, History, Geography, and math, and taught classes on World War Two and boycotts as an adjunct instructor at a charter high school in Boulder, Colorado. In addition, I have experience working for almost two years as a case manager contracted by the state of Vermont.
My tutoring methods are flexible to student and parent needs. I am a versatile instructor, so I would spend time myself gauging the needs of clients and listening to feedback from students. I ask a lot of questions at first and my philosophy is that every student is different so I believe in being flexible.
