I am a recent graduate from California State University, Long Beach. Where I studied Business Management and Industrial Design with a minor in French. I am a very positive and outgoing person and I feel this can be seen through my tutoring lessons. I think it is important to enjoy the subject you are trying to learn in order to understand it better. Therefore, I try to gear my lessons, based upon the student, in a way that helps them to see a different side of the subject matter. I understand how frustrating it can be to not understand a subject, teachers never explained concepts to me in a way that I understood. Therefore I had to come up with my own approach or approaches which I now use in my lessons. Sometimes explaining a concept in another way is all you need for it to click! I have many helpful mnemonics to help learners remember math formulas as well as tricky English words. If you are interested in a more enjoyable way to take on a subject please feel free to contact me! Thanks

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

While studying abroad in Paris I gave conversation courses in English to University students. I liked to switch up the material we were learning by doing one reading class, one culture class, and then one fun class. These classes would last for two hours and their native language was not to be used during that time period. After seeing my students multiple times it was clear how the conversations had improved their ability to speak in English.
I also had a roommate she was from Israel in the beginning she had a difficulty speaking English. I offered her my assistance and after a couple of sessions she was already speaking much better. We continued these courses and now she is fluent.
