I tutored Calculus at San Diego Mesa College. What I found is most students have problems with Algebra, which prevents them from understanding higher mathematics.
The further one goes in higher math, the more one understands, and all the formulas we were asked to memorize, we can now prove through our competency in math.
I consider myself to be able to relate to students of all ages and backgrounds and am able to make math relevant to each personal situation.
