I have twenty years of experience in public finance, municipal bond portfolio management and financial systems. As a independent financial advisor, I have assisted many local governments and governmental agencies in the issuance of their municipal bonds. My undergraduate degree is in economics, and I had nearly enough course work for a second concentration in computer science.

I am available to tutor junior high, high school, college or graduate students in economics, public finance, math, or writing. I am also available to coach high school students applying to college. For the past ten years, I have volunteered as an alumna interviewer for the Harvard College admissions office.

Study Skills

I have a good deal of experience in working with students on their study skills and have worked with students from grade school through college. I've used a number of different methods of study skills including: mnemonics, Latin and Greek roots for vocabulary, flash cards (including online versions), PQRST technique for comprehension and critical thinking, and test-taking skills and strategies.

Public Speaking

I studied public speaking and speech writing as part of my MGA program at the University of Pennsylvania. The course instructor was a speech writer for five U.S. presidents and has authored several books on the subject including "Podium Humor" and "Churchill: Speaker of the Century." When I took his course, he told me that if "I didn't make it in public finance," I should consider a career as a speech writer. And he signed my book, "To [Pat], the speaker of my class."

College Counseling

I am a graduate of Harvard College (A.B. in economics) and I attended graduate school in government administration and finance at the University of Pennsylvania.

I have been active for more than ten years in recruitment interviewing for the Admissions Office at Harvard.
