Geometry
As a visual learner, geometry is one of my strongest suits in mathematics. I draw things out to explain things in a visual way, and encourage my students to feel free to draw if it works for them. My high school geometry class was primarily group work of word problems and projects. As such, I had hands-on experience working with others, both learning things and explaining concepts fellow members did not understand.
Proofreading
Throughout my senior year in high school, I was asked by many of my classmates to read over personal statements and give critiques. Since then, I've been able to proofread and edit history papers, research papers, persuasive essays, and more personal statements from classmates and friends in college and high school. I've also worked via Google docs to aid in the writing process for a few people.
Psychology
Psychology is a passion of mine. I have already taken numerous psychology courses in both high school and college, and it is a possible major for me. I have a background in Child Development and Adolescent Psychology as well as personal growth and social psychology. I believe having even a basic understanding of psychology not only helps one teach the subject, but also aids one in understanding people and how to teach people in general, no matter the subject.
Spanish
I don't speak Spanish very well, but I can successfully read, write and understand much of the Spanish I com across, and I can teach it as well. I've taken four years of Spanish in high school, and I practice my Spanish by speaking and writing to my (Spanish speaking) friends.
Trigonometry
Triangles are my favorite shape! So trigonometry is definitely one of my best areas in math. I believe I am especially good at explaining geometrical math such as Trig because I am extremely visual so I don't hesitate to draw things out to give a realistic understanding to the mathematics involved.
Trombone
I have been playing the Trombone for more than 7 years now, and intensely studying for just over 2. My background in music includes athletic music, like marching bands and drum corps, concert and orchestral settings, jazz big bands, brass ensembles and solo performance. I was section leader of my high school marching, concert and jazz bands and am currently trombone section leader in PCC's Lancer Marching Band. I have taken private lessons and have my own personal library of technique books and solo repertoire. I am also learning theory and keyboard to broaden my understanding of music outside of performing groups.
Writing
"You have a 13th grade writing level," is how my favorite high school teacher put it. I feel I have a wide and expressive vocabulary, and the ability to utilize such to explain concepts, describe an image, and fully support an argument. But more importantly, I have helped friends and fellow students write persuasive essays, creative narratives, FRQ's & DBQ's, and, most successfully, personal statements for colleges and scholarships, along with writing my own.
