I have been a teacher with LAUSD for the past 17 years. I am currently a 4th grade teacher in the School of Advanced Studies and a middle school math tutor. I spent three years as a Title I coordinator in charge of intervention programs and para-professional development. I have taught grades 1-5 multiple times and have experience in meeting the individual needs of both gifted learners (seven years) and special needs students (3 years as a Resource teacher). My strengths are in teaching general test taking skills, helping struggling students to enjoy and understand math, and diagnosing and filling in the gaps in students' skills which limit their ability to decode and understand various forms of texts. I was termed a "most effective teacher" by the Los Angeles Times in both years they published their teacher evaluation report.
