ADD/ADHD

I have taught Special Education in Secondary Schools for the past 15 years. A large percentage of my students have had ADD/ADHD. I have the patience and the ability to repeat instructions/lessons until they are absorbed by my students and then mastered. I am able to diagnose and then remediate as needed. I am very qualified to teach this group of students.

Aspergers

I have a Master's Degree in Special Education from CSUN. I have taught Special Education in public school for the past 15 years. Many of my students have been previously diagnosed with Aspergers as per their IEP. I have many years of experience with students with Aspergers and I am well qualified to assist this population to master their subjects.

Autism

I have 15 years of experience teaching Special Education in public schools to secondary students. Many of my students have been diagnosed with Autism in their IEP's. I have gained the patience this population needs, as well as the ability to diagnose and remediate my students with their specific subject needs.

My years of experience and working with this population enable me to teach these students proficiently.

Dyslexia

I have both a Special Education Credential and a Master's Degree in Special Education. I have taught Special Education in both middle school and high school for the past 15 years. A large majority of my students have struggled with dyslexia. My patience, and ability to diagnose and remediate specific areas of need enable me to tutor students with reading/writing very proficiently .

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught elementary school for 20 years in both public and private schools. I have taught all grades and all subjects in the k-6 curriculum required in the CA. state standards. My areas of expertise include reading, writing, phonics, decoding and reading comprehension.

Phonics

I have taught elementary school for 20 years in both public and private schools in Los Angeles. My area of strength is reading, including phonics, decoding, spelling and reading comprehension. My education and years of experience qualify me to diagnose and remediate problem areas efficiently. I am very patient and very qualified to teach all aspects of reading, including phonics. Short and long vowel sounds, as well as consonant blending, are crucial for successful decoding.

Public Speaking

I have taken several classes in public speaking in college. Additionally, as a secondary teacher, I have been required to give many speeches to my staff regarding a variety of subjects. I have been a teacher for 34 years, so I have given many speeches throughout my teaching career. I am very well qualified to assist a student with writing and delivering speeches due to my many years of experience.

Special Needs

I have taught students with special needs for 15 years. I am very patient and detail oriented. I explain skills slowly, and repeatedly as needed. I am able to diagnose and remediate areas of need. I give positive reinforcement, and I have had excellent results with my students over the years. My education (Master's Degree in Special Education) and classroom experience qualify me to deal with students with special needs efficiently and positively.

Study Skills

As a Special Education teacher for 15 years, I have taught many students how to study. For this population of students, figuring out the tips for studying is very difficult. I am very detail oriented, and very patient with all of my students. My many years of service to the Special Education population qualifies me to be an expert in teaching tips for studying. I am able to gain insight on evaluating which strategies are most beneficial for each student. I also assist each student to retain information efficiently, and to retrieve it upon request.
