I have a master's in art, and I've been teaching Photoshop since the early 90's. I started in the private sector, teaching with a training firm. In those days, I also taught some beginning Illustrator and After Effects. My firm was in the business of retraining industry (television) personnel in new technology, I started as a student, then became a demo artist, and then became a primarily a teacher for them.
I have since moved on to teaching at Art Institutes (Hollywood, Santa Monica), DeVry, and workshops. I also create tutorials with a software program to facilitate the learning experience and as reference material for my students. Photoshop is my all time favorite; it's like a collage program. It's really fun and it's used in almost every discipline, from print to TV, to film, and web.
I've worked on local television for 25 years, and have been a part of the transformation from expensive proprietary machines and software to the personal computer and the Adobe and Apple software programs, to name a few. I've taught on Mac primarily, but also PC's. Photoshop is a deep and rewarding program; most of my students end up loving it!
