I love to learn!
Because I love to learn I also love to teach and love nothing more than teaching others who love to learn. While my professional area of expertise lies in Photography I have a wide array of subjects I am both educated and passionate in. I originally attended college to pursue a degree in Elementary Education before realizing my passion lied in the arts. I am currently in the process of writing my first novel and screenplay
Education wise, I have a bachelor's degree in Photography and am knowledgeable in traditional processes (black and white, 35mm, film), darkroom printing, large format photograph, even alternative processes like cyanotype, platinum/palladium, holga and pinhole. I especially love pinhole photography and recently had a solo show of pinhole photographs taken with my own pinhole camera. I am computer savvy, especially when it comes to Adobe Photoshop and can teach everything from color correction and brightening pictures to replacing heads and eliminating unwanted elements.
Because I started out in Elementary Education I have an understanding of the classroom. I was an on-call substitute teacher for the past three years posting over 100 days in one school district this past year. I have family in education (my mother just retired from 30+ years teaching Kindergarten) so while I am not a teacher I am familiar, comfortable and knowledgeable when it comes to education and the educational requirements of students.
A second love of mine is writing and to go along with writing: reading. In addition to my own writings I have experience proof-reading and critiquing everything from cover letters to novels, research papers to business proposals. I also read continually and try to vary between the classics and contemporary literature.
I keep all of my lessons client focused and am willing to customize a lesson to exactly what you or your child needs. Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me. I look forward to the possibility of working with you and helping you fulfill your love of learning.
