Hello learners! I have been teaching elementary school children for seventeen years now. I have taught second grade for the last fourteen years. Prior to that, I had taught first grade for three years. I enjoy motivating my students and watching them grow and progress academically throughout the school year. I have two children myself, one in fourth grade, and one in third grade. I enjoy tutoring my own children and helping them with their homework. I enjoy seeing the excitement on their faces when they realize that they can learn. Their initial frustration turns to pride as they learn each new concept. I like to make learning fun. I like to motivate my students. I try to get my students to believe in themselves, so that they can succeed.
I enjoy providing time to tutor students in areas that I know best. I prefer tutoring students in grades K-6. I like to give my own assessments after each lesson, in order to see how much information has been absorbed by the student. These assessments help me to guide future instruction by helping me to see what academic areas need to be focused on next time. I like to see my students use manipulatives and hands-on activities, especially in areas such as mathematics.
I graduated from California State University, Northridge in 1988. After completing my Bachelor's, I went through the teacher credentialing program, also at California State University, Northridge. I furthered my teaching skills later on by taken professional development courses at The University of Phoenix.
I am looking forward to tutoring your child and watching them succeed! Working together, we can help our students to achieve!
