As a lifelong student, both at home and abroad, I know how a challenging subject can be a great encumbrance both academically and personally. In particular, while studying in Japan, I can recall vividly what a tremendous help it was to have one-on-one contact with a tutor outside of the classroom setting. As a tutor in a variety of subjects including writing, directing, English, and Japanese I have experience in assisting a wide variety of students ranging from kindergartners to adults. I strive to provide a positive classroom environment that is both adaptive and flexible. In addition, it is my genuine goal to be an interactive and communicative tutor in my sessions and effectively reach auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners equally. I believe that effective instruction involves presenting material in a way that is engaging, informative, and practical. As a tutor, it is my job to assess students' strengths and weaknesses in a manner that fosters good study habits and greater understanding of the subject at hand. By helping students in problematic areas of their studies I hope to provide them with the necessary skills to progress and succeed in their academic careers.
In terms of my credentials I am TEFL certified as a teacher of English as a second language. Additionally, I hold a master's degree in Visual Culture from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a bachelor's in liberal arts from the Master's College, Santa Clarita CA.
