I'm bilingual. I am fluent in Spanish after having done a year of fieldwork in Mexico. I can tutor on any social studies topic including history, civics, American government, comparative government and international relations or help with English papers. I can tutor math up to Algebra and introductory Spanish. I am a strong writer and give excellent writing feedback and edits. I can show your kids how to use free online programs to help them format their citations for reports properly. This is great for middle school through the University levels.
I am very enthusiastic in the classroom and in one-on-one situations. I give excellent career advice to motivated and under motivated students to make them understand the importance of education and their career options.
I use humor and Socratic method questions to keep students entertained and active. I am committed to helping students learn and feel successful in the process. Being a resourceful teacher I am convinced that each student learns differently, and I am capable of using several strategies according to my students' needs.
I am a PhD candidate in political science at UC Irvine going on the academic job market now (which takes a year). I am also a free-lance writer with major Washington DC think-tanks and an adjunct instructor in political science at University of San Diego.
