. Although my native language
is English, I was born and raised in Singapore, where I was constantly immersed in a multicultural environment. I have studied Chinese academically at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), graduating with a Bachelor's in East Asian Studies with a China focus. In addition, I have spent 6 months in Shanghai studying at the prestigious Fudan University (a university ranked top 3 in China). This combination of education and experience has given me the ability to understand not only the language but also the heritage of the great Chinese culture.
I have extensive experience teaching foreign languages to students of all ages. In one of my experiences, I introduced a Chinese language curriculum to a private elementary school where I taught 40+ students ranging from ages 3 to 18. I also have tutored and advised natively Chinese and Japanese
children and adults on the English language on a more personal basis.
My strengths and passion are working 1-on-1 with students and seeing them progress. I understand the struggle and frustration involved but it's my goal to ensure students learn the right way, have fun, and enjoy their new ability to express themselves in a different language. This is accomplished through engaging & exciting instruction rather than boring, tedious methods of repetition.
