I have taught for 15 years, in the classroom, and one-on-one. My students have ranged in age from 18 - 80 plus, and come from all over the world: Japan, Mexico, Korea, Russia, France, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, China, and many other countries. At the present time, I lead a Conversation Club of advanced students once a week. I enjoy helping my students with their compositions and grammar, and find it very rewarding to work with them on a variety of interests and topics. This semester, the class has been reading and studying Mark Twain's "Huckleberry Finn" in order to get ready for the story adaptation and "Big River." I have also been able to help scientists and technical writers as they prepare for presentations.
I continue to work as a writer/editor for such publications as the American Council on Teaching of Foreign Languages: "The Language Educator." My articles have focused on global English, language for specific purposes, and the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California.
In addition, I have also taught social dancing (ballroom and Latin dancing) to thousands of students through Mountain View-Los Altos Adult Education.
