I really love one-on-one interactions with students of all ages. I've been an instructional aide for 15 years in both private and public schools, working with students in grades K-12. All but two of those years have been spent in resource assignments, working with students with a spectrum of learning differences/disabilities/challenges. I've worked for the Palo Alto Unified School District for several years, presently at Gunn High School. I have also done some private tutoring.
My primary work has been to tutor students, helping them with classwork and learning strategies.The foremost traits I bring to my teaching are enthusiasm, patience, and compassion (along with skill in many subjects, of course!) I would like to tutor in reading, writing, science, and math through algebra or geometry; K-10 or 12; possibly adults. Inquire about other subjects. And if you have a precocious pre-K, basic math and pre-reading would be fun, too!
While some students may never express a real passion for his/her subjects (my ultimate goal!),I like to push for comfort with those subjects and a good degree of mastery, so school can become fun again. Please contact me, and let's see what we can do for you or your child.
