My name is Andrew W., and I tutor math and English in the areas of Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, and Palm Springs. I graduated from Midlands Technical College in May of 2012 with an associates degree in science. I have earned almost entirely A grades in my college coursework to date, with the lone exception being a B grade I earned for a Calculus III class (and which I consider the bane of my life!). My current college GPA rests at 3.938 as I continue to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science.
When I teach others, I aim to explain concepts in plain language. This is because I, personally, have always responded well to this teaching style, and I believe others besides myself respond well to it too. But I also try to avoid being generic with my "plain language." I try to find out how the people I'm teaching think so that I can adjust the way I word my explanations to better suit their thinking style. The result of this is that these people begin to understand the subject matter in their own manner of thinking. They don't just learn to repeat whatever the teacher is doing, they learn to actually understand the material on a conceptual level.
