I am an experienced tutor in English, Literature, History, Music, and Public Speaking. I started tutoring during college, assisting students with test preparation, speech, and writing assignments. After college, I continued through a small company near Stanford University where many of my clients were high school students working on SAT/ACT prep and adults needing assistance with public speaking.
I earned Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts/Communications with a minor in Music (Vocal Performance), and I specialize in voice coaching (long and short-term) and audition preparation.
I have experience with Asperger's and other special needs children, and am aware of their unique learning and communications needs. I especially enjoy working with these students and have found that the best method is to start by looking at the world from their perspective to effectively assist them in their future endeavors.
My methods are tailored to each student and subject. Everyone learns differently and lessons must be adapted to their needs. Most vital in this approach is to equip students with study and research skills that work to their strengths, while short-circuiting any issues or learning disabilities that would hinder their progress.
While I have a diverse subject background, I feel it is especially important that we teach the younger generation effective language and grammar skills that appear to have eroded in the age of texting and tweeting.
I welcome students of all ages and look forward to helping others with their educational goals.
