Since I have been an elementary school teacher for 33 years and I am currently teaching full time, I have access to materials from grades 1 to 6 that most other tutors do not have. Not only do I have these materials, but because of my numerous years as teacher and tutor, I have an inexhaustible amount of teaching techniques and strategies that younger or less-experienced tutors do not employ.

I can tutor reading, writing, ELD, test preparation, and Spanish. I am able to tutor students from grades 1 to 12 in these areas. I am prompt, organized, and responsible. I will take time to research information and create materials that you may need.

If you hire me as your tutor, you will be a successful student in your class, self-confident and ready to be a leader in your subject area. My fees may be higher than other tutors listed here, however, my experience speaks for itself. You will be paying for a qualified tutor with a teaching credential.

Elementary (K-6th)

For 28 years, I have taught in the elementary grades with fantastic evaluations and much success.
I have taught reading, writing, math, science, and social studies each year. This qualifies me to tutor in this area.

The teaching of English is one of my areas of expertise. I have a California teaching credential which entitles me to teach English as a second language.

For two summers, I took extra courses with The Great Valley Writing Project which gave me a lot of experience in teaching writing to students of all ages. I also wrote poetry in these courses.

For 32 years, I have taught English grammar from grades 2 to 7. I have taught sentence structure, paragraph structure, and the writing of essays. Teaching English has brought me much pleasure, and it really is one of my strengths.

My first 20 years of teaching were in a bilingual classroom where I taught ESL on a daily basis for an hour each day. Now, I teach in a regular class, but I still teach ESL for thirty minutes with much success. This year, my principal hired me to teach ESL after school for two hours to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. I'm a pro!

The GED is a test developed by the American Counsel on Education which allows you to receive a Certificate of General Educational Development. Many places of employment require a person to have a GED or a high school diploma.

I have spent 28 years teaching English grammar to students in grades 1 to 7. Each year was different, of course, but it was something I really enjoyed teaching. Notice that I passed the proofreading test, and this incorporates the use of much grammar.

SAT Reading

The SAT scores are looked at by college officials to accept students into college and universities. The test consists of a reading section, as well as a section for math.

Spanish is one of the languages derived from Latin. Spanish is widely spoken throughout the world. It is a phonetic language. Spanish is taught in high schools and colleges throughout California due to the high population of Hispanics in California who come from all over the world.

Study Skills

Throughout my school years, I was able to get good grades and I went to college because of the scholarships I received. This was due to my organization and study skills. Even now, as a credentialed teacher, I must be organized and teach students how to study, so they can perform at their best in the classroom. To do this, I use research skills, time efficiency, and verbal support.
