Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified teacher with five years experience. I have helped many students improve thier reading, math and writing skills in all grades from kindergarten to sixth grade.

Phonics

I have helped several students learn to read by teaching them phonics. I teach the students how to connect the sounds of letters or groups of letters to form words. I also teach students to blend the sounds of letters together to be able to learn words they do not know. I make sure that the students know the sounds of the letters, the short and long vowels, dipthongs, digraphs and the 44 sounds you need to know to be able to spell words.

Public Speaking

I was a Toastmaster for six years and have received the first level of achievement, the Competent Toastmaster Award. Toastmasters is an organization designed for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
