I am interested in working with students in developing reading and writing skills, and preparing for any subject where these skills are important. I am also an experienced tutor in standardized aptitude testing preparation, preparation for tests such as the SAT. My most recent GRE score is 1450 out of 1600. I also seek students who are native speakers of languages other than English who seek to improve their English skills.
I have a bachelor's degree in English from San Diego State University and am a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. I am a recent graduate of San Francisco State University, having earned a master's degree in philosophy. I am an experienced college instructor, having taught introductory classes in philosophy. More recently, I have focused on working with students from many levels of pre-college classes. I am successful at helping students to develop reading and writing skills in classes such as history and English. I am an experienced editor of student work, and am able to use the materials that a student brings to a session as tools to help students strengthen their reading abilities and writing skills during individualized training sessions.
I have worked with students on standardized test preparation for the SSAT, the ACT, and the SAT. I have even worked with a client in preparing for a professional exam. I have specialized training, through two university programs, in working with students, and have used that experience to assist students throughout my career.
