I am an experienced teacher who has taught biology and chemistry. I have also helped high school students prepare for the math portion of the CAHSEE exam. Reading

Do you or your child(ren) struggle with reading? You have come to the right place. I have worked as a Reading Intervention Teacher and tutored with the Pro-Literacy Program at the Merced County Libreary. I have practical experience in targeting weak areas and helping a student increase their reading fluency and comprehension.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a credentialed teacher with the state of California. The credential expires on 2/1/2016. It is a Multiple subject credential. I also have a Master's Degree in Primary Education. I have worked as a substitute teacher for the Merced City School District for over two years. I am able to provide my license number upon request.

Phonics

As part of my credentialing process I was required to take and pass the Reading Instruction Competency Assessment or RICA. I did pass this important examination. I also was required to complete courses on reading instruction as part of my teacher education program. I obtained an A- in that course which included a practicum where I worked one-on-one with a student for eight weeks teaching him in phonics instruction.

Study Skills

As a credentialed teacher I am experienced in helping students prepare for exams and boil down important topics in textbooks. I will help students learn note-taking skills and tried and true study methods such as SQ3R. We will also work on vocabulary development and research skills.

CBEST

As part of the credentialing process to obtain an emergency substitute teaching credential in 2004 I took and passed on the first attempt the CBEST on 02/21/2004. I performed well enough that I could help a teacher candidate prepare for this critical examination.

Microbiology

My credentials in this subject area include a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Fresno State University. I have previously worked as a tutor for Gavilan College specifically working with students in this subject matter. I also was a Teacher's Assistant to the Microbiology Instructor at that same college.

Spelling

My multiple subject teaching credential includes spelling as a subject that I am authorized to teach.
