Hello! I am a certified K-12 Spanish teacher with more than 9 years of experience working with students and I have been a professional tutor for the last 5 years. I have been studying Spanish for 14 years, and I studied abroad in Spain and in Ecuador for a semester each.
I have worked with several families by helping the students with homework and test preparation. If the students didn't have enough work to fill the hour, I supplemented with Spanish materials. I am somewhat of a homework coach. I am more than happy to provide original materials, but I always start with what the student has to do for homework or what he or she is learning in class and I build off of that. I generally work with my students weekly in order to keep up with current materials and be able to prepare for any upcoming tests or quizzes.
While I assist many of my students with classes they are taking at school, I also tutor conversational Spanish. I have experience working with adults who simply want to learn some Spanish in order to speak while traveling, conducting business, or to use at home. They are not taking a class, but through consistent lessons are able to become proficient in conversation.
I am a cheerful and energetic person. I like to have variety in the materials that I work with. For my students learning Spanish, I incorporate music, cartoons, books, art projects, cooking, and any other fun ideas that can be educational. I really enjoy working with students and I try my best to make sure that they understand and have fun!
In addition to my teaching credentials, I have been professionally trained for ACT test preparation. I have tutored over 100 hours with students for test prep (including ACT, SAT, and PSAT). I apply methods and strategies that have been proven to increase student's scores.
While I have worked with many students who are enrolled in public and private schools, I also I have assisted home school students with a variety of subjects, including teaching 4th grade math in Spanish. I am available during the morning and afternoon to work with students on their home-school curriculum.

Bridget has been working with my children for two years, as the oldest has gone through high school and the youngest has navigated middle school.
For the high schooler, Bridget has provided reinforcement in Spanish, Geometry, Advanced Algebra and Pre-Calculus. Bridget also provided customized SAT and ACT standardized test preparation that led to results at the 99th percentile. For the middle school student, Bridget has tutored in Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Spanish.
Bridget is always punctual, cheerful and works well with students with vastly differing learning styles. She is very creative about finding ways to encourage language practice-even reading Spanish books, cooking Spanish foods and playing games in Spanish with the younger student. The result is a student who is eager to practice and who is quickly learning Spanish vocabulary.
My children look forward to Bridget's arrival: for my older student, Bridget is skilled at explaining advanced concepts and for my younger student, Bridget is great about making learning fun and interesting.
Bridget is truly the best. She is very patient and explains things in a way that my daughter gets. We have tried a lot of other tutors in the past and Bridget is at the top of my daughter's list :-)
Bridget has been prompt, professional, and patient when it comes to tutoring my second grader. I would definitely recommend Bridget.
Can't say enough good things about Bridget. My son struggles with Spanish 2 in high school. She has patiently and systematically helped him improve two grade levels.
Bridget is always understanding and never gets frustrated. She is very helpful. She helps you find the easiest way for you to do things. Se would be a great tutor for everyone!
She took my son from danger of failing Geometry class to a 1st quarter report card grade of B. What a turn around in a very short period of time. Thank you!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with students specifically in Elementary Math for 3 years. I use the coaching and teaching skills that I developed while obtaining my certification to help students understand math concepts.
I have also taught elementary math in Spanish for a home school family.
I currently help some students with middle school level English needs. Mostly it is with sentence structure and wording. I enjoyed helping with some book reports that required a student to see parallel themes throughout multiple books.
I have been working with students specifically in Geometry for 4 years. I use the coaching and teaching skills that I developed while obtaining my certification to help students understand math concepts.
I have helped a homeschool family in particular with Grammar. I went through an entire year of 8th grade Grammar to help a student work through the material. As part of this course, I helped with editing her essays.
I have been working with students specifically in Prealgebra for 3 years. I found that I can relate the coaching and teaching skills that I developed while obtaining my certification to help students understand math concepts.
With my certification to teach Spanish, I am able to explain the grammar and structure of Spanish. I have several activities that I can incorporate to complement a student's current homework and tests. I love to play games that will build vocabulary and confidence in my students. I have worked with all ages and skill levels and I look for ways to include the student's interests and objectives in each lesson.
