My name is Meredith , and I am a certified teacher with three years experience with Teach for America and KIPP. I recently moved to the Bay Area because my husband is attending Stanford GSB. I have experience helping students grow in math proficiency and improve scores. I led my students to dramatic gains while working in an historically underperforming area, achieving: an average of students' scores higher than the state mean and high performing districts' mean on state exam, moved 7th grade students from 83% passing to 95% passing on the state exam, and average student growth of four years in math skills and ability (as measured by NWEA national standardized test). In addition to helping students achieve on rigorous academic assessments, I have extensive experience developing creative lesson plans and engaging activities tailored to student needs. I also served as my school's Math Content Lead for grades 5-8.
I believe in teaching students the skills and knowledge requisite for achievement as well as logic and critical thinking skills they can use to more easily learn new and unfamiliar math concepts. I have a thorough, caring, and individual approach to help each student learn: problem-solving skills, verbalization of steps, reasoning, and cognitive processes, as well as organization, note-taking, and study skills.
Finally, my educational background includes being a high school Valedictorian and graduating from University of Texas at Austin, UTeach Program with 4.0/4.0 GPA and Phi Beta Kappa.
