As an academic professional, that currently works in a college setting advising students I am a strong proponent of education. In working with college students, who ranging in their academic level, from AA degree to graduate degree I very much appreciate the difference of each individual.
I have worked as a student services adviser, academic coach, tutor and manager of online program and am very diverse in my professional advising experience.I believe that good tutoring, and therefore academic success, comes from listening to the challenges each student brings to the table, and working to set goals with each student, that focuses on the strengths they have rather than the weaknesses.
I have completed my Bachelors in Communication Studies, and while I started my Master in Counseling Psychology, it's a degree I have not completed yet. However during my Bachelors and my Masters I often found myself explaining concepts to other students, and being extremely excited as they accomplished something they previously thought impossible.
You will find me extremely compassionate in my style, yet challenging, graceful yet demanding in that this is your session-lets make it worth while. Often during my first session I am looking for concrete goals, for example: "I want to only be investing "x" amount of time in my homework weekly" or "I would like to learn how to use excel in "x" way". Then off of these goals we will find a personal approach that will work for you. There is always a way through each situation, and each obstacle, lets work together to find out whatever that might be for you.
