I've tutored secondary through college students in English, math, and all aspects of writing, from analytical to creative. My Bachelor's degrees are in chemical engineering and sociology, and I received my Master's degree in English. As a tutor at a community college, I worked with ESL students, helping them with their writing as well as reading and comprehension. I also co-founded a writing workshop for community college students. As a college instructor, I've taught freshman composition, nonfiction writing, fiction writing, literary analysis, science writing, poetry, literature, gender studies, and film. I've designed courses, especially writing courses, and have worked one-on-one with my introductory students on a regular basis, focusing on the grammatical and mechanical aspects of their writing. I'm insistent upon the need for multiple drafts to vastly improve not only the paper being worked on, but one's writing skills in working on it. I recently published a textbook on literature-to-film adaptation, with a focus on both literary and film analysis, so I know all about multiple drafts and the importance of them. I'm currently revising a novel.
