What is really important:
I'm nice. I'm friendly. I smile a lot. I'm patient. I have confidence in you, even though I haven't met you. I believe in helping people find the best in themselves.
Other items of interest:I currently own a yoga studio and enjoy teaching yoga from both a practical and academic perspective. I have practiced yoga for 10+ years and have been teaching for around 3.
I have taught college courses in composition, reading, literature, humanities, art, public speaking, and basic math and study skills, among others. While pursuing my degrees I taught an after-school elementary program, substituted in preschool, and volunteered in an alternative education high school.
Educational/Academic Experience:I have a Master's in Comparative Literature specializing in English and Latin, a BA in Comp Lit with a minor in American and British Literature, and a certificate as an Associate Teacher of Early Childhood Education. I am currently completing a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I also have units in French and ASL. My literary scholarship had been published in journals and one book.
I am presenting a paper on the use of World Literature, Early Childhood Education, and Yoga as a subject-independent teaching methodology at the annual PAMLA conference in 2013.
